Queenies second birthday
It is well known her majesty has 2 birthdays, quite frankly we can’t blame her. Double the presents!
It’s the Queen's 90th birthday next weekend, what? You’ve already celebrated it back it April? Well shame on you…. I kid, her actual birthday is in fact on the 21st of April and this weekend is her ‘Official birthday celebrations’ so essentially a birthday party with horses and guns. A packed schedule of events has been organised in the capital and beyond for the nonagenarian monarch.
To kick things off we have church service followed by a birthday parade and a traditional street party in the capital with thousands expected to attend. Other things to look forward to is you will be able to stay in the local longer as an extension of pub opening hours on Friday and Saturday night have been organised.
Here’s what her majesty will be doing over the coming weeks #Queenieontour
Friday June 10
The Windsors will be out in force at St Paul's Cathedral for the church service. Afterwards, they will host visiting Governors and Generals for a lunch and prosecco at Buckingham Palace (well will hope their would be to calm their nerves).
Saturday June 11 - the Queen's birthday
Trooping the Colour and The Queen arriving by carriage procession will kick off in the morning. The Queen, with her family will watch the Birthday Parade which must be nice to have for your good self! then the Queen's Company Guards will be trooped.
Afterwards, the royals will grab a taxi back to their gaff with a mc’ds. Well maybe if their budgets get cut one year. What they will actually be doing is taking a carriage procession back to Buckingham Palace. Fans of the Royals may be able to catch a look of baby Princess Charlotte if she makes an appearance on the balcony when the flypast happens, lets hope its not a MJ baby balcony appearance...
Sunday June 12
The 3rd day of celebrations will be a busy one for the queen. Firstly she celebrates the longest serving Captain General of Honourable Artillery Company, then her and her corgis will appear on the cover of Vanity Fair to mark her 90th birthday.
Peter Phillips, the Queens eldest grandchild will host a hamper party to thousands of lunch goers along the London thoroughfare which leads up to the Queens gaff Buckingham Palace.
Yet another parade will travel along entertaining guests and the Queen and Philip will take to a stage at the Queen Victoria Memorial in front of the Palace to listen to speeches, before sitting in a royal box with the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry, joint presidents of the event, for part of the day.
Large screens will be erected in nearby Green Park and St James's Park for the public to watch the festivities for free. But if you can’t make it down, the event will also be broadcast on the BBC.
This year's Big Lunch, where people are encouraged to sit down to eat with their neighbours in streets and community spaces, will also take place on June 12. Heir to the throne Charles and wife Camilla will attend a regional lunch.
